Euro 2024 Qualifying: England and Italy Start with Wins
England and Italy opened their Euro 2024 qualifying campaigns with victories on Sunday, while Denmark and Scotland suffered defeats.
England beat Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley Stadium, with goals from Bukayo Saka and Harry Kane. Italy also won 2-0 away to Malta, with goals from Nicolo Barella and Giacomo Raspadori.
In other Group H games, Kazakhstan beat Denmark 3-2 and Slovenia beat San Marino 2-0. In Group A, Scotland lost 2-0 at home to Spain and Norway beat Cyprus 1-0.
A total of 53 nations are competing for a spot at Euro 2024, with teams finishing first and second in the 10 qualifying groups securing a place at the tournament. The draw for the qualifying groups was held in Frankfurt on October 9, 2022.
The Euro 2024 finals will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The tournament will feature 24 teams, up from 24 at Euro 2020.
