The bonobo, a species of great ape, shares an astonishing 99 percent of our DNA, placing them on par with chimpanzees in terms of their genetic makeup. Unique Behavioral Differences

Despite their genetic similarities, bonobos and chimpanzees exhibit distinct behavioral patterns. Bonobos live in societies ruled by females, with strong matriarchal leadership and a lower prevalence of aggression compared to chimpanzees. They are known for their peaceful nature and use reconciliation and sexual behavior to maintain social harmony.

In contrast, chimpanzees live in more hierarchical societies dominated by males. They display higher levels of aggression and competition, including territorial disputes and violent encounters.
